James D.Tully, 85, Of Wyckoff

WYCOFF, N.J.—James D. Tully, 85, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, surrounded by family.

Tully was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the eighth child of John and Mary (Hosty) Tully. He lived in Teaneck before moving to Wycoff 41 years ago.

After graduating from Mount St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Md. in 1952 and New York Medical College in 1956, Tully served two years in the U.S. Navy as a Medical Officer in Hingham, Mass. Following residency at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, he joined the staff at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck as an anesthesiologist in 1961, retiring in 1993.

Tully was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth’s RC Church in Wyckoff, where he was a member of Cornerstone Men’s Group. 

He was predeceased by his parents, seven siblings, and two children, Elizabeth and Steven. 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie (Baradel) Tully, children Paul and Donna Tully, Michael and Lorraine Tully, Mary and David Liss, Patricia Tully, and Karen and Jon Justin, 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The Tully family will receive friends on from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m Friday at Vander Plaat Funeral Home at 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. There will be a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Elizabeth’s, 700 Wyckoff Ave, followed by Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes. In lieu of flowers, make memorial contributions to Several Sources Shelters, PO Box 157, Ramsey, NJ 07446.
